A daily serum formulated specifically for Australian skins is what makes Defend the best vitamin C serum in Australia.

A daily serum formulated specifically for Australian skins is what makes Defend the best vitamin C serum in Australia.

Australia’s climate is harsh and ever changing and with this, and your skin in mind, we created not only the best brightening serum, but the most potent skin immunity serum on the market.

Defend strengthening serum will help prevent skin damage, protect against environmental stressors and reverse the signs of sun damage all whilst brightening your complexion. This is why many vitamin c serums are known as a face brightening serum.

Vitamin C, like vitamin A, has been around forever and for this reason is one of the most researched, tried and tested skin care ingredients on the market. And, we love it, and your skin needs it.

Vitamin C is a staple product in building any successful skincare routine as it alone has three magical benefits for the skin, it's an antioxidant, a collagen booster and a skin brightener. However, with Defend we went a few (okay many) steps further, as we only believe in innovating through producing potent yet not irritating skin care products.

Alongside a massive 25% vitamin c, we not only added the good ol’ faves; chirally corrected vitamin E, hyaluronic acid (not one but three weights) and a bunch of antioxidants, but we also included 8 anti-ageing peptides (including SNAP-8, think b*t*x-in-a-bottle!), anti-inflammatory extracts, pre/pro biotics and healing magnesium, zinc and copper. How super amazing is that ingredient line up!

We challenge you to find anything even remotely this active, yet clean. So yes this serum was going to hit the shelves at a hefty $400+ per bottle, but we believe in working local and supporting local and that my GSDoer also includes you!

So, when it comes to the price point of a vitamin c brightening serum, you can either buy one with the spare change you have floating around in your handbag or, you’ll need to put it on finance. LOL - no seriously!

Why is there such a large range in pricing?

And does it reflect the quality of the product?

Ummm, absolutely yes (mostly). It comes down to basic science, literally. Ascorbic acid (the most common form of Vitamin C) can be used in a serum pretty much as is, a highly unstable, volatile product that can be some-what irritating and due to very little formulation, these serums are cheap, and you get something quite ordinary (pun definitely intended here).

At the other end of the spectrum of, what goes into making a vitamin C serum formulation, are the more exxy priced ones. Potent, yes. Active, yes. Delivered successfully into the skin, yes. Stable, yes. Volatile, no. There is some serious molecular science going on, plus it doesn’t come cheap for the latest tech (sounds like an iphone hey).

We do feel at this stage we need to add a little disclaimer, always, always read the ingredients. At first it may be a little daunting but, you will soon start to get to know which serums are worth the investment. Don’t let the scientific names put you off, after all Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2 Biomimetic Peptide (EGCG - Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate) is just your humble green tea, only supercharged.

But what sets GSDs Defend serum apart from its “exxy competitors” is we do not use irritating ascorbic acid, at all. We use a new generation, advanced, triple vitamin c complex..Meet 10% ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, 15% super-ox c and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate.

When ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate is compared to ascorbic acid, it's more stable, it penetrates better, it’s less irritating and the results are just as good.

But we didn’t stop there, with a further 15% super-ox c, the world's richest source of vitamin c and a superfruit antioxidant. Fun fact: Did you know that at just 2% concentration, Superox-c yields 100% satisfaction? When trialed, all of the test subjects noticed a reduction in wrinkles, a smoothing effect and increased luminosity.

And the last vitamin c, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate is also more stable than ascorbic acid and ideal for sensitive skins as its non-irritating.

And those are just the vitamin c's we have used in Defend, a whooping 25%! But as mentioned, when vitamin c is used alone, it’s ho-hum and we definitely don't do ho-hum!

So, if you are ready to try the ultimate anti-ageing serum, that is going to reinforce and protect your skin against ageing and sun damage by 400%, then simply add 1 pump into your skincare routine every morning - it really is that simple.
